There is nothing better than being back home, but I definitely miss Charlotte and I am so thankful for all of the experiences and close friends I have from living there. Despite a few setbacks it was an awesome trip! Summer in the Carolinas is usually pretty darn hot, but thankfully this time it was surprisingly pleasant. I was 30 weeks pregnant at the time, so my bestie and I planned to do a photo shoot for each other. Natalie's adorable family was up first. The super cloudy day cleared up just in time to let gorgeous rays of sun appear for our shoot.

After our fun family session it was time for my turn in front of the camera. Throughout the process of attempting my own self-portraits, I have learned that it is difficult to be both the photographer and the subject. Trying to make myself relax and pose as I would pose my clients is a daunting task. My main goal for doing this is to help me understand what it feels like to be the subject so I can strengthen the way I interact with and pose my clients. Thankfully this time I didn't need my remote! My awesome best friend took the lead and swapped spots with me so she could snap the photos after I set up the camera. It was a blast driving around searching for the right spots to photograph and stalking Pinterest for ideas. About six years ago with my dinky FIVE megapixel camera, I took my first ever maternity photos of Natalie...

Now it was my turn and I am SO thankful she was the one to capture our moments. Natalie rocked that camera!

Natalie- I always love capturing memories for you and now I have these amazing memories captured BY you! This is a day I will never forget. I love you with all my heart!

Newborn Baby • Sleepy Snuggles with Daniela http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2014/7/sleepy-snuggles-with-baby-daniela Meet Daniela. She is as sweet as any sleepy, snuggly newborn can be! Baby D was about a month old when I went to photograph her, so naturally I was expecting her to be a little more awake for the shoot. Not this girl! She loooves to sleep (at least for our photo session!) :) I left this photo shoot feeling so much love in my heart. I hope you can feel the love too!

Baby Daneila, I had the best time with you! I can't wait to see you grow into the beautiful young girl I know you will be!

A Charming Surprise Proposal http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2014/4/a-charming-proposal

Time was of the essence. I had one hour to get from BWI airport to the Lincoln Memorial in DC to photograph my brother's engagement! His girlfriend Allison had no idea what was coming her way. For all she knew, they were off to spend the beautiful weather together at the Cherry Blossom Festival and brunch at the amazing Farmers Fishers Bakers.

My brother Jimmy called me two weeks prior and told me the whole plan. I was immediately on board and within minutes the flight was booked! I could hardly contain my excitement! On the flip side (as excited as I was) at almost 19 weeks pregnant I was super worried I would get sick or even worse- it would be so busy with tourists that someone would walk right in front of me while capturing the surprise.

That morning, the plane arrived in Baltimore ahead of schedule. Everything was off to a fantastic start! It was around 9:50am and I had to be there and in position by 10:45. I made my way to the Amtrak station to hop on the train and head straight to the memorial. Alas, the first obstacle. The train was running 30 minutes late which meant I couldn't board until 10:30!! Okay- time to hop in a cab. I knew it would take longer than the train, but at least I had about an hour to get there. The cab driver proceeds to drive off and then gave ME his GPS to enter where we were going. OH. NO. Um, hello Mr. Cab Driver? Don't you take people to DC from the airport all the time? There are cab drivers lined up outside. This should be routine and I choose the ONE that didn't know where the heck he was going? Great. I mean, I'm the tourist...how do I know the address of the Lincoln Memorial? Forty-five minutes, bad traffic, and many dollars later, I start to panic. I followed this guy's every move to make sure he wasn't duping me. He truly did not know where he was going and relied on his extremely outdated GPS was taking us the most ridiculous route.

Enter Tristan and Jackie. Jimmy and Allison's awesome friends who were waiting for me to help with the engagement and stake out my position. I called Tristan in a panic, while at the same time I was texting Jimmy my crazy adventure and status. I thought for sure Allison would suspect something as we were all texting frantically back and forth. I gave Tristan my location and he was able to direct me with his GPS. I finally arrived around 10:55, thinking I had blown the entire engagement.

Luckily, Jimmy was doing a fantastic job stalling while on their walk over to the Lincoln. They arrived around 11:15. There were people everywhere. I hid behind a rescue dog tent, sneaking out to get my practice shots while waiting. I knew that Jimmy would take her over to the edge of the Reflecting Pool and face the Washington Monument with their backs to us. As soon I saw them in position, I ran out plain as day (about 20 feet in front of them) and captured their amazing moment from start to finish. My eyes were so blurry with tears that I was praying I got the shots! It was the most incredible experience to be a part of and I could NOT believe that no one got in our way. Better yet- Allison had no clue about the entire chain of events. Success!!

I could not be happier to have been a part of this huge moment in my brother's life. I will remember it forever...as I know they will too.

Enjoy as the moments as they unfold before you. :)

I LOVE the expression on Jimmy's face in this next one...

For a good 15 seconds, Jimmy glanced over at me and Allison still had no idea I was there!

Until now... :)

The rest of the day was a blast. We pranced around DC on our way to brunch and captured a few more photos of the beautiful newly engaged couple. I didn't have to tell them to do anything. They were so busy relishing in their moment that voila! Gorgeous. Photos.

The crew...

Allison, I am thrilled to soon call you my sister! Words cannot even do justice for how happy I am for the both of you!! Congratulations!

Much love to you both!

Dan & Jesse http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2013/11/dan-jesse I am honored to present the wonderful wedding of Dan and Jesse. I met Dan a number of years ago through friends, some of whom are now family. After meeting Jesse for the first time just months before their wedding, I immediately knew how perfect they are for each other. Dan and Jesse are two of the most humble people I've ever met, and Jesse's personality and smile is utterly contagious. After only a couple minutes of talking with them (pre-wedding), I could tell how much love they have for not only each other, but their friends and family as well. On their wedding day you couldn't help but notice the love pouring in return from everyone who shared their day with them. Each moment was incredibly touching. I can't even count how many times I teared up! Dan and Jesse, thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day! Your love for each other, as well as your family and friends, is inspiring to say the least!

Much love,

This stunning mirror was handcrafted by Dan and Jesse's father. Of course I was tearing up and so emotional listening to the story of how this was given to Jesse, that I forget half of the story! (Insert Mother of the beautiful bride- feel free to add this awesome story in the comment section below!) :)

How amazing and touching for Jesse's sister Brittany to write and perform a song for the newlyweds!

Every last sentimental detail of this wedding was incredible...and what a perfect way to send off the newlyweds!

Amy + Danny http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2013/11/amy-danny AMY+DANNY

Cleveland, Ohio

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing an intimate ceremony and reception for these two wonderful newlyweds, Amy and Dan. Their event was held at Marigold Catering in Cleveland, a quaint establishment filled with wall size canvas paintings, gorgeous color, and amazing food. Places like this then help to set the stage for the wonderful celebration of two great people, and what a celebration it was! I love how closely Amy and Danny incorporated their friends and family into their entire night, especially their nieces and nephews. There were also many small (and major) details that helped to make Amy and Danny's wedding night even more beautiful. The major detail being Amy's handmade dress from her mother which was absolutely STUNNING (in addition to the bride, of course!!) I am thankful to have been a part of such a wonderful, heartfelt evening! Enjoy!

These next two make my heart smile...

These guys were on the dance floor all night with coordinated dance moves, including an entire choreographed dance to "Gangnam Style".

Thank you, Amy and Danny, for allowing me to be a part of your incredible evening! Much love and happiness to you both!

Aaron & Rachael Married! http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2013/8/aaron-rachael-married Hi everyone! I can't tell you how excited I am to share this blog post for the wedding of Aaron and Rachael. Having known the father of the bride, Randy, for many years now, I knew what a great and fun wedding this would be before I was even hired. Over the years I got to know Randy and his family through our restaurant Stamper's in Fairview Park. I feel so fortunate that I could play such a huge role in this special day for Rachael and Aaron and both of their families. It was a great time had by all!

Here are some prep shots of the gorgeous Rachael...

From full blown cowboy get-ups to crazy cool tattoos, there was so much style to this wedding. Even the makeup artist had some sweet tats!

The mother of the bride, Tami, has amaaaazing hair. No extensions people...that is for real!

Before the wedding, my photog partner Karen went to photograph the guys while I stayed with the girls.

Rachael and Aaron chose to do a reveal before the wedding. I'm really starting to enjoy the idea of a reveal. Seeing each other before the ceremony is a very special and intimate moment for the bride and groom, especially because of how quickly the day goes by. These next two photos are my favorite of the day...

The ceremony was very touching. Chairs and photographs were placed amongst guests for loved family members who have passed. Such a great reminder that they may not be physically with us on earth, but are still with us in spirit. Here are a few from Karen's view...

Here come's the beautiful bride!

I'm very proud of the next two photos, because they were taken by my wonderful hubby/trusty assistant. The perfect first kiss as Mr. and Mrs!

Back to Karen... the next five were taken from her excellent eye. Let the party begin!

First dance as husband and wife. :)

I always tear up when it comes to the father/daughter dance. This is one proud papa.

Yeeee-haw! This mother/son dance was loaded with FUN!

Can you guess what's about to happen?

That's right. A shirtless toast! Only the most fabulous toast I've ever witnessed from a best man and the groomsmen!

Karen and I were able to sneak the bride and groom away during the reception for the next two photos...

Karen was manning the photo booth for some ultra fun saloon photos.

Later in the evening, Aaron and one of his groomsmen decided it was time for a shootout...

...gangnam style!!

I think the groom won. :)

Thank you Aaron and Rachael for letting me be a part of your wonderful day! Cheers to a happy life filled with many more adventurous and meaningful memories!

Beautiful Day for a Beautiful Mama-to-Be http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2013/4/beautiful-day-for-a-beautiful-mama-to-be Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend a little time with some great friends who were visiting from Charlotte. Erin, Jackie, and I quickly became close friends after meeting through our teaching jobs in the Queen City. The fact that the two of them are also from Ohio was a huge plus! Now that I am living back home we do not get to see each other as often, so I highly cherish the quality time we were able to spend together for Jackie's baby shower, as well as the adventurous maternity photo shoot we had before and after her shower.  The light, the colors, and the warm spring weather couldn't have been more perfect for this beautiful mommy-to-be!

These photos were taken after Jackie's baby shower. The sun had fallen a bit so we could get a couple photos with some flare. :) The falls had also been closed during the earlier part of our shoot, but later that day... the gate was opened! Hoorraaay!! We were like little kids in a candy shop!

Jackie- Words cannot explain how much this time spent with you means to me! I am beyond thankful I was able to play a small part in the beginning chapter of your new journey into parenthood. There are so many more wonderful moments ahead! You are an amazing person AND friend! I cannot WAIT to meet you Baby B!!

Fun and Festive Pre-Wedding Photoshoot http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2013/1/fun-and-festive-pre-wedding-photoshoot I recently had the opportunity to do a wedding prep shoot for my friend Eileen. The snow was falling down quite heavily outside, which only can make for an amazing setting for wedding photographs. Eileen and all her bridesmaids wore adorable matching pajamas, and her friend Holly had this fabulous green room where their hair was being done. There were so many fun details to photograph that I was able to capture some of my best work yet.

A great makeup artist always makes a list...

The bridesmaids wore these gorgeous flowers in their hair

Awesome textured door + snow...what could be a better setting for this fabulous dress?

Here come the hairspray photos, which has become my next new obsession (other than mirrors of course)!!

...have you had enough hairspray yet??

...and I quote, "I love the f***ing swoop!" ;)

You make this cool color look hot, hot, hoooot!!!

A mother's first look...

And now, for one of my favorites of the year...

Congratulations Eileen and Sean! I'm so happy that I could play a small part in your special day!

Just in case you haven't had enough...

Ireland-Part I http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2012/10/ireland-part-i Ireland Vacation

July 17-26, 2012

After three months I have finally gotten around to looking at my photos from our amazing trip to Ireland. The following photos (in no particular order) are a compilation of our adventures on the road. From our first day of being delirious in Dublin, majorly scraping the bumper of our car in a "car park", forgetting where we parked the car and having to take a cab to find the "car park", and realizing that you cannot order dinner anywhere after 9:00pm because no one in Ireland eats that late, we redeemed ourselves the next day on our trip to Galway. Day two we took the long way "through the twisting, turning, winding roads". After being close to the edge of many narrow roads and through the great hills of Connemara (which felt like mountains to me), I finally understand the reason for the Sawdoctor's song lyrics "Galway and Mayo". GPS saved us so many times during our off-roading adventures. It is amazing to me that it knew all the roads that would typically be off the map. In Galway we stayed at a ridiculous B&B that didn't include breakfast, walked around the Galway Art Festival, tasted the best seafood chowder on the planet, and enjoyed an evening with our friends Brian and Emily.

On day four we traveled up the coastal route from Galway to Westport, Mayo. Along the way we stopped for photos on the beach in Spiddal, mussels for lunch at a pub in John's favorite town Roundstone, and a guinness in my favorite little town of Clifden. After arriving in Westport we settled in for a couple days. Day five we took a short trip to Achill Island. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. On the way to Achill we drove through some long tucked away roads, only to reveal the most beautiful deserted abbey's, castles, and cemeteries. From there we drove the coastal route to Achill and all the way to the top peak of the island. There you can look down and see the amazing Keem Beach cut out of the cliffs of Achill. We visited a massive deserted village (photos Part II) and had a picnic lunch on the coast. After driving back from Achill we stopped to visit a family friend in Newport and enjoyed a traditional irish music session at a pub.

Day six we continued on our journey from Westport back to Dublin and enjoyed many more adventures...but I'll save that for Part II. Stay tuned!

Wedding Bliss- Michaela+Erik http://www.pixelsnicecream.com/blog/2012/6/wedding-bliss--michaela-erik This past weekend I had my very first wedding shoot on my own (except for the help of my wonderful husband)! I am very thankful to have shared this day with such an amazing couple! The wedding was located on the fun-filled island of Put-in-Bay, Ohio. The weather was picture perfect for this special weekend. Michaela and Erik met at the establishment where their weekend activities were held, including the reception. Beyond that, their grandparents made the trip over to witness their marriage, and Michaela's grandmother even sewed her a handkerchief to pin into her wedding gown. You could feel the love and meaning in the air with all members of the wedding party and families as Michaela and Erik joined their hands in marriage.

The wind loved Michaela's veil which made for a perfect photo op! I can't get enough of these next three... Michaela you are STUNNING!
And YES- this is real. :)

Thank you for letting me be a part of your day Michaela and Erik! May your new lives together be filled with nothing but love and happiness! More photos to come...
